| ah, another xanga entry. Unfortunately, I don't think this one will be as interesting as the last one...sorry Eileen!
The semester has been going well. Classes have not been to bad, but have gotten a lot busier, with group work in each class and lots of reading...but hey...only a little over two months to go!
I have my one-month-after-lasik-surgery appointment the other day. My vision is officially 20/15 (that is better than 20/20!) Dr. Woolfson was very pleased with the results, as was I! He has been a great doctor. He is from Zimbabwe, and has a cool accent, and isn't married. I wonder what he does with all that money! But seriously, I would recommend him to anyone. So if anyone is thinking of getting LASIK, I'll give you his card, or get you their info. Or you can just go to www.woolfsoneye.com. They have the greatest customer service too. Everyone is so friendly. I've just been totally impressed by his business. It speaks a lot of the founder. They get Susan's 2006 Business Award of the Year. ha....anyway
The job search has been taking place as well. Not as easy as I thought it would be. I do have some prospects, but if anyone knows someone that would like to give me a job - a real job - just let me know, cause that would be awesome.
David will have officially been gone for one month tomorrow...even though it seems like way longer than that. He too is looking for a job/internship so that he can complete his master's program.
SO - today it was snowing. yep! for a grand total of about 5 minutes. As I was leaving church there were some flurries...then they stopped. I sat down to do some homework, and the "down pour" came. It was great, I thought it would have lasted a lot longer. I had let the cats outside right before that also, so I went outside to see how they would react (because I don't think they have ever seen snow before). One of them darted back in the house (the one that is afraid of everything - literally) and the other one just sat there letting the snow fall on him. It was cute. But now I can't find him, so I hope he isn't freezing. But it was fun.
What is it about snow that makes people smile? I mean...it's just frozen water falling to the ground. Why do we like it so much? Well, down here, we like it because we never see it. But is it because it falls so softly...unlike rain. Hardly anybody likes the rain - we only like the rain when we don't have any other plans and we can go outside and get soaked and jump in puddles. But we always have plans, and somewhere to be, and a reason that we can't get dirty...especially when we get older. But anyway the snow never seems to lose its thrill. I guess it is like Disney World. It brings out the kid in us. It reminds us of a time when all that mattered was what we were going to do next for fun. And it's all around us. I wish it would snow more...and last longer.
I think that is all for now!

| So there are a couple things I forgot to write about, and some new things I need to write about.
#1) the first excitement of Christmas break: I was eating a piece of my peanut butter pie when I go to take a second bite and - uh oh, I can't close my mouth! I try to hide it until I get it shut, but it just won't close, and people start to notice (I was over at the Swafford's) So there I am, jaw stuck open, and the fun begins. David's mom gets on the phone trying to get in touch with someone who might know what to do, and his dad does the same, while I'm sitting there trying to ask someone to just hit under my jaw to see if we can get it to pop back in place. no luck. David's mom gets some advice to massage my jaw muscles to see if they will loosen or relax so that it can go back into place, so she starts massaging my jaw while David goes over to the computer to look up something on the internet, and comes back telling us that I just need to go to the hospital so they can knowck me out and pop it back to where it needs to be. -thank you internet- So after a good 20 or so minutes of laughing like crazy with Laura and Julie (mouth wide open), and using up a good amount of paper towels to make sure I don't drool everywhere (you can't swallow when your mouth is wide open, try it! it doesn't work! ...and i mean WIDE open), we decide to get in the car and go to the emergency room. We get there and have to fill out of paper work and then sit for another 15 or so minutes waiting for them to call me back to a nurse. *meanwhile the it starts getting painful* FINALLY they call me back and we talk to a very nice male nurse about what happened and stuff about me - like how much I weigh, which David had to guess since I couldn't talk... he was pretty close - Then they took me to the back into a room where they were going to give me an IV with morphine so that they could fix me. Well...they needed to do x-rays first. But they go ahead and give me the IV so I'll be ready after I'm x-rayed. So, my parents show up, the rest of the Swaffords show up, and we just seem to be having a party back in the ER. SO after sitting in the room waiting for about 20 minutes after getting the IV, they take me back to be x-rayed. It was so painful! I had to lay on my sides so that they could get all kinds of different pictures, but it made my jaw hang funny and thus hurt MORE. Plus I had to be care how I laid on my arm cause it now had an IV in it... That felt like it took 30 minutes, but it was probably only another 15 or 20... Then I went back to the room and waited again for the x-rays to be developed and looked at by the doctor so he could know what to do (he had never done this before - lucky me!) Then, finally he came back there with a crew of 3 other nurses, 2 big guys and a lady, cause I had to sit up against a wall when they knocked me out so he could get enough leverage to put it back into place. But two big guys...was that really necessary to hold me up?? Anyway. After they gave me some morphine and it had barely kicked in, the doctor said "This isn't going to be easy" so I moan "huh, huh?" Just so he knew I could hear him. Then he just laughed a little, like, oops...even though I really didn't care at this point my jaw hurt so bad I just wanted them to get it over with. Next thing I know I'm awake back on the bed with huge strips of gauze or whatever going around my head, holding my jaw closed. I can tell I'm saying something, but am not really sure what, and David was in there sitting next to me, I knew that too... When I finally came around, he told me I had been testing out my jaw, showing him how I could open and close it now, and had been telling him how great morphine was, and how I wished I could have it more often. hehehe, it does make you feel pretty nice. Anyway. I'm just glad that was over...in the end my mouth was open for a good 3 hours and it did hurt pretty bad. It was soar for 2 or 3 days later and I had to be careful how big I yawn, and they stuff I ate, but things turned out ok...it hasn't happened since thank goodness. ADVICE: don't open your mouth to wide, for anything, even great pie. It isn't worth it, but it is pretty funny.
wow sorry that was long. i'll just skip to new stuff.
#2) There was a house on fire in our neighborhood last night. Nobody was in the house so when it was reported it as already pretty bad. We saw it from our front door and ran down the street to see - along with a billion other people who drive down and just parked and watched. The flames were so big it was incredible. You could hear the fire blazing and growing. And ashes were falling on us as we stood there. I have never seen a house burning in person and I must say, I hope I never see it again. This morning before class I drove by to see what it was like this morning, and it was pretty bad. It seemed like it started on the second floor and by the time it was put out the floor had collaped and the first floor was ruined also. So it is totally not liveable. So after class I decided to stop by to see if I could find out anything about the people who lived there, or if they had kids, or how it started, or if there was anything we could do to help out. There were 3 people outside 2 ladies and a man. So I asked them if any of them lived there and the two ladies said they did - I think they were roommates - the guy was their insurance agent. So I talked to them for a few minutes. They don't know how it started yet. They weren't home at the time, but had the name of the lady that called it in, and were wondering who it was - i didn't know. But I asked them if there was anything they needed, like if we could make them a meal or anything and they said no, they had a place to stay, and the insurance guy was telling them some pretty promising things, but they were going to have to board up the house so it wasn't hazardous to anyone else until they knew what they were going to do next. They were very appreciative of the concern, but I guess I couldn't do anything to help out. But wow. What a terrible situation to be in. We all need to realize how blessed we are on a daily basis.
#3) I have a business idea. And it could be a really good one if it was pursued the right way. We'll see.
#4) I went to a Career Fair on campus to days this week, and got to talk with some companies that I could potentially see myself working for that I think they could also see me working for them. I signed up for some interviews and hopefully will have more good news in the upcoming months about having a job for after graduation. There are so many aspects of a job that you have to consider though that can impact your future tremendously. Location... Travel... Salary... Advancement... Experience you'd gain... It's tricky.
#5) We are going skiing this weekend! Yipppeeee! Matthew, Me, Maria, Rocky, and whoever else meets us up there. Maria and Rocky have never been before, so this should be exciting :o) I think it will be lots of fun. I just hope that none of us get hurt.
#6) I realized earlier this week that only one of my classes has exams. HOW COOL! Yeah I have projects and write-ups and papers, but those are all better than exams!!!
#7) David has been gone for exactly one week today
#8) There are 106 days until I graduate :o)

| Well, Christmas break is over. It was great though.
David came home the 16th, and got to stay until the 13th of January. We got to do all kinds of stuff while he was here. We visited and ate at the homes of all his family and mine, which is something he had to check off his list - he doesn't eat like that in France. Then we got to go to Callaway Gardens with Luke and Danielle to see the Magical Nights of Lights, or whichever one they do down there, and that was fun. Then we took a trip to Charleston SC to see this group we like called "Jump Little Children" in concert. We got to dress up formally and everything, but some people didn't get the memo. But I don't think this band is going to stay together much longer. Maybe they'll have their annual concert again next year, and we'll go back. We liked Charleston. We spent the next day walking around the water front and the town. We were even matching - not planned. We both were wearing white button down shirts (that were new from christmas) and jeans, with brown shoes. Hehehe, David didn't like it, but I thought it was great. It was a blast. After Charleston (like this is in any kind of order) we went to the Aquarium, which is REALLY cool by the way. If anyone wants to go, I'll go with you because I have a season pass We played a lot of Mario Kart too. We almost beat everything perfectly, but didn't get a chance to finish. ...let's see, what else did we do... Oh yeah! We went to the Passion 06 conference, and that was great! We brought a good group this year. It didn't get any bigger than last years, but it was a different group of people, so that was fun. Next year they are going to do it in Atlanta! How cool...so more people should definitely be able to go. We also watched tons of movies and went to see The Chronicles of Narnia. So that is the brief over view.
He's made it back already...got a message from him this afternoon. So that's all good. I'll go over in May after I graduate to visit. I'll see how long I can stay over there until I wear out my welcome - seriously. Then I might try to go to Japan to visit Eileen. That'd be fun. I'm going to try to get a job that doesn't start until July/August, hopefully August so I can go to a language school in Costa Rica too.
But today my mom and I went shopping and I found a skirt-suit for interviews and everything. Don't particularly like the jacket that you have to wear with it, but I don't think anybody likes those. They look better on guys. I also bought new 'tops' or blouses from Ann Taylor, which is my new favorite store. I think we bought one of everything from in there, it's great.
This semester is going to be pretty great. I have 3 regular classes, and one independent study with a professor I've already had 3 times and a friend from a previous class. I think it is going to be a bunch of fun. My other classes are pretty good too. One for my PTFE certificate, one for my operations certificate, and the management 'capstone' class 4195 - strategic management- so that I can graduate. And the independent study is pretty much operations based, so that is cool.
So, the semester is back in full swing...the LAST semester. The LAST semester of my LAST year of school ever! The LAST semester of my LAST senior year of my LAST year of education ok I'll stop. but seriously, it's exciting. I'm ready to have a job. Hopefully I will find one that I really enjoy. That's the plan!
